Smart Load Triggering:
Automate Your Power Usage

The Smart Load Triggering function in the Fox ESS App lets you automatically switch appliances or circuits on or off based on your solar production, battery level, or time of day. This feature helps you make smarter use of your free solar energy, avoid wasting excess generation, and save on electricity costs — all without manual intervention.

How It Works

With Smart Load Triggering you can:

Monitor real-time energy flow from your solar panels, battery, and grid.

Set conditions — for example:

  • Turn on a geyser or pool pump when your solar output is above a set level.
  • Switch off a heavy appliance when battery SoC falls below 20%.

Automate load control — the system sends a signal to connected smart relays or devices, so your selected loads respond instantly.

Maximise Solar Self-Consumption

Use your own generated energy instead of exporting it for a low tariff.

Reduce Grid Reliance

Shift energy-hungry devices to run during free solar hours

Protect Your Battery

Automate load cut-off at a safe SoC level to extend battery life

How It Works

Getting Started

  • 01 Open the Fox ESS App and go to Smart Load Triggering under settings.
  • 02 Select the load or relay you want to control.
  • 03 Set conditions for when the load should turn on or off (solar power, battery SoC, or time schedule).
  • 04 Save and activate — your system now automates this process for you.
Benefits Designed for Modern Teams

Typical Use Cases

Heat Water for Free

Trigger your geyser to turn on only when there’s enough solar production — saving you from using expensive grid electricity.

Pool Pump Automation

Run your pool pump during sunny hours instead of at night, optimising energy use and reducing your bill.

Shift Heavy Loads

Start dishwashers, washing machines, or EV charging only when your solar output is high, maximising self-consumption.

Battery Protection

Prevent loads from draining your battery too low by turning them off when your State of Charge (SoC) hits a safe threshold.
